Dra-Mur-Shou is an illithid city near the Vault of the Drow constructed within a vault several miles in diameter. The vault is bathed in a hellish red light that seems to emanate from the High City atop a central plateau.
Dra-Mur-Shou is in two parts, the High City and the Low City.
The High City
The High City is built on a plateau that towers a hundred feet above the rest of the cavern. It can only be reached by flying, levitating, teleporting, or by ascending a set of stairs carved into the rock, decorated with carvings of a disturbing and nonhuman nature.
Only mind flayers and their blind thralls dwell in the High City. The exact number of illithids dwelling in the High City is unclear; rumors vary from 100 to 1,000, though no outsiders have gone there and returned. In the center is a mystic academy of some kind, though its nature is a carefully guarded secret.
The High City generates a hellish red light that bathes the entire cavern in its unhealthy glow.
The Low City
The Low City is a chaotic jumble of buildings with occasional open spaces that function as marketplaces. Drow, kuo-toa, duergar, derro, demons, yugoloths, and the occasional devil can be found congregating and trading here. Law is enforced by duergar guards and lesser devils. The city's hidden illithid masters do not deign to show themselves in the Low City.
The illithids of Dra-Mur-Shou sided with the drow noble houses Despana, Noquar, Kilsek, and Godeep during the recent Priestess Wars in Erelhei-Cinlu, mostly to prevent their racial enemies the githyanki from putting an allied government in power there.
