Between 576 and 579 CY, a large cavernous tunnel was located in the foothills of the Crystalmist Mountains. This tunnel is said to lead to the Sea of Dust, cutting through and under the entire mountain range. It is thought to be the Passage of Slerotin, used by the Suel during the Great Migrations, the location of which had been lost for centuries.
This discovery has brought renewed, and mostly unwanted, attention to the Yeomany. To handle the great amount of activity that began to transpire in this region, especially in regards to adventuring and adventurers, the town of Dark Gate was established.
Great wealth is beginning to pour into Dark Gate. In 590 CY adventurers returned to town from an expedition into the tunnel bearing unusual armor and weapons made of a strange black metal. The armor and weapons disintegrated within days.
Since that time, tales and stories have abounded of untold wealth to be had and great magics to be found within the passage and beyond. From far and wide adventurers are coming to seek their fortunes.
