The Chalice of Heironeous is the daughter of the deity Heironeous and, presumably, a female angel.

Though presumably from the Seven Heavens of Mount Celestia originally, the Chalice is currently imprisoned within the Iron City of Dis, part of Dispater's foul realm.

The Chalice of Heironeous has few worshipers at present, being a secret known only to the Lightning Councilors of the Order of the Chalice.

Affiliated Orders

The Chalice is an order of knights dedicating to freeing the Chalice of Heironeous from her prison.

Myths and legends

The Chalice of Heironeous

The Chalice of Heironeous is known only in a secret myth revealed to the highest echelons of the Chalice, a knightly order devoted to slaying fiends. Most believe the Chalice to be a powerful relic of Heironeous's faith kept safe by the Masters of the order. The masters of the order, the Lightning Councilors, know that the Chalice of Heironeous is actually the daughter of Heironeous, a young goddess-angel kidnapped by Hextor and given over to Dispater in enable him to shirk responsibility for his deed, as well as to keep the prisoner more secure. The Chalice was founded in approximately -628 CY in order to find a way to rescue the Chalice of Heironeous and reunite her with her father [Player's Handbook II, page 170].

Creative origins

Though described as a miraculous silver cup in earlier sources, the Chalice of Heironeous was revealed to be a "goddess-angel" in the Player's Handbook II.
